Cost Benefit Analysis

The cost of pretending you are tough and strong and have your shit together at all times is that, if you're good enough at it, people will believe you.

Even when you aren't and and even when you don't.

And when what you really want more than anything is for someone to pat you on your head and say "honey, it will all be okay" they will say nothing, because, of course it will all be okay, you've never let on that it might be anything but.

A friend said to me once, "I can't say that I'd want it any other way. Well, except for actually being that person."

You and me both, honey, you and me both. Most days, anyway.
